Stand up paddleboarding on Lady Bird Lake. Rowing Dock is a quintessential Austin business, and we made sure to pull that through into the design of their new website.

A stand up experience

Rowing Dock's fun-filled service offerings are a major attraction for Austinites and tourists alike, so they needed a website that is equally as sunny, exciting, and accessible. Creating a streamlined website and e-commerce page with superior SEO optimization while enabling a smooth, scenic digital experience was top of mind for this project.

A foundation of quality

Rowing Dock is not the only boat rental company in Austin, but they are the most prestigious. This is down to the quality of the experience. The grounds and boats are pristine, and the staff are well educated and super helpful. We wanted to mirror this with the new website, and this starts with making sure that the foundations are solid. Going through the full process of research, information architecture and wireframes before ever designing a pixel allowed us to have a foundation to build on that will last for years to come.

As Austin's No. 1 spot for kayak, canoe and stand up paddle-board rentals, they needed a new website that matched their class-leading experience. We had so much fun helping to craft an experience that captures the personality of Rowing Dock. Plus any time that we get to help out on video shoots with dogs, we are 100% on board.

Panoramic beauty

A huge part of the Rowing Dock brand is a pushing the beauty of the natural scenery found on Lady Bird Lake. This makes the photography and videography on the site extremely important. Masonry helped to plan, style, execute and deliver on a multi-day photo and video shoot that captured the true Rowing Dock experience.

A fluid website transition

Rowing Dock had great SEO already so a big emphasis was to not lose traction, and increase organic search traffic through strategic SEO optimization. Besides the tangible positive data that has been visible since the site launched, we are also proud that Rowing Dock now has a web presence that mirrors the quality of their physical experience. Merch madness

Remember when we went through a pandemic? That was a thing. And it was really tough on local businesses like Rowing Dock, who had to close their main source of income during this time. We helped them create and push live an e-commerce section on their site, which helped drive sales that weren’t there before.

Earth Day Cleanup

Part of Masonry's ongoing design work for Rowing Dock includes the annual Earth Day Cleanup, which has its own evolving brand. From a landing page and social media posts to print assets, Masonry has helped define the Rowing Dock Earth Day Cleanup presence in Austin. Hand-drawn illustrations, unique fonts, and personalized design touches everywhere you look have made the Earth Day Cleanup t-shirt design a highly anticipated perk of attending the event.
