Growth can come from many different places. For me, it’s most often through the process of surrounding myself with work that I love. Similar to the idea that “you are what you eat”, I believe your work begins to look like that which you see most often. Your skill level, with experience, begins to raise to the level of those who you’re surrounded by. With that in mind, I seek out high quality work as often as I can and try to keep my sights set on growth.
This week marks one year since I moved back to Austin, the city where I grew up. One of the best things about being here is that Austin has grown over time into one of the best graphic design cities in America. Talent is everywhere, and the design community here is well-connected. This means seeing quality work everywhere I go, and subsequently growing in my own skill level over time.
Dribbble, a platform for designers to “show and tell”, has been the most useful resource for me to find great work and to begin to connect with local designers. This is a list of some of my favorite Austin designers on Dribbble. These folks, along with a ton of other great designers, have taught me what good design is by consistently posting work that’s unique, creative and just so, so good. I highly recommend checking them out!
