Dave started his career in journalism at the Austin American-Statesman before making the move to marketing. His data-driven mind and passion for storytelling has combined to make him a dynamic Marketing Manager as he’s always looking for new and creative ways to get his organization’s story in front of the right audience. Dave graduated from the University of Florida before seeing the light and joining the Austin community.

Let’s get to the basics: where are you from / what are you getting your degree in?

I’m originally from Lakeland, Florida (midpoint between Tampa and Orlando). I graduated from the University of Florida in 2007 with a B.S. in Journalism and a minor in Business.

What is your favorite thing to do in Austin?

Taking advantage of everything that makes it unique! I love going for runs/walks around Town Lake with my wife Haley and dog Indy, eating more than enough to make up for those runs/walks, and enjoying the nightlife - usually on the eastside.

What generally makes you feel accomplished at the end of the day?

Maybe it’s the newspaper background, but I love hitting deadlines. Add in a cold beer on my back porch in the evening and you won’t find me complaining.

What would your dream project be?

I live and breathe college football. The Florida Gators are in my blood, but being in the same town as one of the most historic programs in the country, I’d go nuts if the Texas Longhorns came asking for some marketing help.

What is your favorite Austin hangout / best place to get a drink?

My friends make fun of my fondness for dive bars. My favorite place for a quick bite and a beer is Liberty Bar on E 6th St. The fried chicken and basil dish from the food truck in back is supreme, and the Lonestars are always cheap and cold.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Pizza. Hands down. Easy call.

Craziest celebrity encounter you’ve ever experienced?

Oof. My “celebrity sighting” stories are soooo weak. I got invited and went to an after-show party with musician Hank Williams III (the third….not either of the elder two you’d actually get excited about). In case you’re wondering HW3 is a heavy metal guitarist. Or at least he was back in the early 2000s. We haven’t kept in touch.

Would you rather never have coffee again or live without TV forever?

Tea will suffice.

What television character do you most identify with?

Michael Bluth from Arrested Development

What’s on your top 5 book list?

Hard to pick 5 favorites. Here are some random ones I like…

 1. Ready Player 1

 2. 1984

 3. The Book Thief

 4. The Da Vinci Code

 5. Harry Potter

What career would you choose if you weren’t in Marketing?

I always wanted to be a football play-by-play guy. Seems like so much fun!
