Meredith Marlowe

Meredith is a graduate of Texas State University with a BFA in Communication Design and a minor in Business. With experience in everything from big agencies to small in-house design and marketing, she is inspired by exploring history and functionality to create designs with a purpose and has a passion for keeping things on brand. When not building with Masonry, she enjoys Austin’s live music scene and staying creative with painting, illustrating, and TTRPG games.

Where are you from and how did you end up in Austin?

I was born and raised in the northern Dallas area (Allen, to be precise.) I moved to San Marcos to attend Texas State and got my degree in Communication Design and minor in Business. I moved in with my sister who was already in Austin when I started looking for work after college.

What is your favorite thing to do in Austin?

Live music, outdoor movies, hanging out at Radio Coffee or Far Out Lounge, and visiting antique/thrift stores are some of my favorite go-to activities in Austin.

What generally makes you feel accomplished at the end of the day?

Getting to check off everything from my to-do list with time to spare to hang out with my dog or friends is a great way to complete the day.

What would your dream project be?

My friends and I from school all talk about one day opening our own design firm, so if that ends up becoming reality, that would just be so cool.

Craziest celebrity encounter you’ve ever experienced?

No crazy celebrity encounters here, though I did go to a lot of book signings of my favorite YA authors when I was younger. They were celebrities to little bookworm Meredith.

Would you rather never have coffee again or live without TV forever?

Coffee. It has already been on the way out, except for those few mornings I really need the help.

What's on your top 5 movie list?

In no particular order: Everybody Wants Some, Twilight (no shame, this is my comfort movie), The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Phantom of the Opera (technically a musical, but the movie adaptation is amazing), and any of the Harry Potter movies.
