McKinlie is a recent graduate of Abilene Christian University where she received a degree in Advertising and Public Relations with a minor in Business Administration. During school, she worked as an account director at Morris+Mitchell a student-run agency and held a remote account services position stemming from her internship and Denver Advertising. Her favorite part about account management is being able to watch a project go from start to finish going through all departments and delivering the final project to the client. Aside from work, McKinlie loves finding new restaurants to eat at with her friends, exploring outside with her dog Oliver, and listening to music while driving around the city.

Where are you from and how did you end up in Austin?

I am from Parker, Colorado a suburb south of Denver. I always loved coming to visit Austin because it felt like a combination of my two favorite places; Denver and California. I went to school at Abilene Christian University and decided to pick up my roots and explore a new city with some of my best friend’s moving here from school.

What is your favorite thing to do in Austin?

As a new Austinite, my favorite thing to do right now is explore the city and all it offers. I am also loving all of the outdoor activities like paddle boarding, running trails and scoping out parks to take my dog.

What generally makes you feel accomplished at the end of the day?

When it gets to the end of the day what makes me feel most accomplished is checking off every box on my to-do list. There really isn't a better feeling for someone who is a little type-A.

What would your dream project be?

My dream project would probably be working on an account promoting anything that had to do with any big award show; The Grammys, Golden Globes, Emmy’s. I am obsessed with music, movies, and celebrities so that would be unreal.

What is your favorite Austin hangout / best place to get a drink?

Being so new to this city I’m sure this will change down the road but I love hanging out in Zilker Park with friends, getting to pet all the cute dogs, and people watching. My favorite place to get a drink would have to be anywhere that has a margarita.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Honestly, what's better than a cheeseburger and fries?

Craziest celebrity encounter you’ve ever experienced?

Well, somewhere along the lines of my family through marriage I am somehow related to Jessica Simpson and I got to go to her mom's house and we jumped on a trampoline together. Oh, and I also saw Kim Kardashian and North West once in Calabasas.

What’s the best vacation you ever went on?

My favorite vacations growing up were when we would go camping and dirt biking in the mountains, that was always a blast. I also love any time I get to go to Los Angeles.

Would you rather never have coffee again or live without TV forever?

Bye bye, coffee. I can’t imagine a life that didn’t involve binge watching The Office and Parks and Rec on Netflix.

What’s the best advice you have ever received?

The best advice I ever received would probably be from my favorite professor when I began my job hunt- It is good to experience rejection, use it as motivation it improve yourself.

What’s on your Top 5 movie list?

  1. Anchorman
  2. She’s the man
  3. Hacksaw Ridge
  4. Deadpool
  5. Mamma Mia: Here we go again
